Dolce Vita’s unisex Pride collection goes up to women’s shoe size 13

Queers, like myself, have begun to question the way some brands decide to show support of the LGBTQIA community when Pride comes around. A lot of brands will merely slap a rainbow on products, and some have yet to update the rainbow flag to represent Black and brown folx. However, the Dolce Vita Pride Collection is a step towards understanding how LGBTQIA people want to be celebrated.

The Dolce Vita Pride Collection has partnered in designing each shoe with The Trevor Project, an organization for suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQIA youth. Dolce Vita has already donated $50,000 to the organization but took the work a step further to partner with the brand in the shoe collection as well.

In the lineup are four shoes: the Bryton Sneakers, the Noles Heels, the Myra Sandals and the Isala Sandals, each with some rainbow flair to every design. What makes this collection special is the size range. This Pride collection offers every single shoe in extended sizes or women's sizes 6-13 and men's sizes 7-11.

As it is, it's common for women to be able to try on men's shoe sizes, but it's often never the other way around. Not to mention, it makes the shoe shopping experience for trans women more frustrating. But, with this large size range from a mainstream brand, it lends itself to the idea that this collection had queer voices behind the line's inception.
